What is Green building
• Green building that ensure efficient use of natural
resources like building materials, water, energy &
other resources with minimal generation of non
degradable waste and maximize the use of re-
useable, renewable & bio based materials.
(OR)
• Green building is environmentally responsible &
resource efficient through out a building life cycle.
(from design to demolition)
Examples of green building

• Efficient cooling system

• Smarter lighting system

• Air based flushing system

• Energy efficient LED ‘ s

• Glazing of windows

Rating standards of green building
 Three primary rating system for green building in
India

• GRIHA : green rating for integrated habitant

assessment.
• IGBC : Indian green building council .
• BEE : Bureau of energy efficient .
LEED
USGBC : UNITIED STATE GREEN BUILDING
COUNCIL

Voluntary, market driven
