The captain’s maintenance panel is located on the side panel
left of the captain’s seat. It is covered by a protective see-
through lid which is held down by magnets.

Let’s examine the make-up of the maintenance panel:

Starting in the upper left corner of the panel there are the
avionics fault balls.
The fault balls give the pilots indications that a situation has
occurred within each system such as an overheat. The pilot is
not responsible for correcting this action before flight. Simply
notify the maintenance personel and they will correct the action
in a timely fashion.

The AFCS switch is used by maintenance personnel when they
are testing the AFCS system. If you come to the airplane and
notice the ADU displaying the “TEST” message, check to see that
the switch is moved back into the “Norm Flt” position.

The CCAS panel, is the only panel where the captain will be
required to perform any tests. The CCAS rotary select knob is
able to perform 9 tests on various systems.

Prop Brake:
The Prop Brake position is for testing the alert system for when
the prop brake releases without command. The alert will be

Excess Altitude:
The Excess altitude position tests the pressurization alerting
system to make sure that the warning will be activated upon
reaching the 10,000 foot cabin pressure altitude. The alert will
be as follows.

systems in all locations of the aircraft. (not engine fire detection)

Stick Shaker “YES”:
This position tests the stick shaker and stick pusher. When
placed in this position, the control column will shake and then
the stick pusher will activate. When the pusher activates you will
see the “stick pusher” light on the instrument panel. You will
also see the “Channel 1 and 2” lights illuminated.

Stick Shaker “Fault”:
This test when check after the “YES” will silence the shaker and
stop the pusher. A few seconds later the stick pusher “FAULT”
light will appear next to the manual pressurization panel.

The ACW BTC switch:
This switch is used to operate the ACW Bus Tie Contactors
independently. Normally they operate together, either open or
closed. This switch can operate one open and one closed. The
pilot does not operate this switch.
