DEFINICION

• La celulitis se define como un proceso agudo inflamatorio de origen

infeccioso que afecta a la dermis profunda y al tejido celular
subcutáneo
• LA CAUSA MÁS COMÚN DE CELULITIS SON:
LOS ESTREPTOCOCOS BETAHEMOLÍTICOS (GRUPOS
A, B, C, G Y F), CON MAYOR
FRECUENCIA STREPTOCOCCUS DEL GRUPO
A O STREPTOCOCCUS PYOGENES ;
S. AUREUS (INCLUIDAS LAS CEPAS RESISTENTES A LA
METICILINA) ES UNA CAUSA NOTABLE PERO MENOS
COMÚN LOS BACILOS AEROBIOS GRAM-NEGATIVOS
SE IDENTIFICAN EN UNA MINORÍA DE LOS CASOS.
Se localiza con mayor frecuencia en Miembros Inferiores
- otros sitios: Miembros Superiores, cabeza y cuello.
El inicio del episodio es brusco, observándose el área afectada
eritematosa, edematosa, caliente, sin limites netos y con dolor local
Suele haber linfangitis y adenopatía regional
A diferencia de la erisipela, al afectar tejidos mas profundos la lesión
no tiene bordes netos
