Due to the fact that Malaysian can be divided into three large ethnic groups,
which are, Malay Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian, and Indian Malaysian, we will
compare Thai’s culture and value with each ethnic group respectively.

First, Thai and Malay Malaysian, these two cultures have one
outstanding different, which is the religion. The Malay Malaysians are
Muslims, while most of Thais are Buddhism. In Buddhism, people do not
worship any specific god, but they believe more in actions and the
consequences of those actions which can be referred as “Karma”. In
Buddhism, “Karma” is one of the most important guideline in the Buddhist’s
set of guidelines. Therefore, the values in religion aspect are different. On the
other hand, the similar values of these two cultures are also existed, for
example, indirectness, politeness, and the respect for others. It is important
for both cultures to show respect to people with higher social position as both
of them accept the hierarchical structure society.
Next, Thai and Chinese Malaysian are quite different in term of life’s
priority. Chinese Malaysian values about education, success, wealth, and
more. From all these things, it can be implied that Chinese Malaysians are
quite Masculinity. As the consequence, the priority of Chinese Malaysians
is different from Thai. Thai people focus more in maintaining working life
and family life, because they think that to have a successful in working life
is not the true success, while having a good family and having a good
relationship with others will conquer all.

As for, Indian Malaysian, they share the similarity value towards

family as same as Thai. Strong relationship in the family is considered to be
the best fundamental component in life.
