Before the Exam
• Know the location of the exam
• Arrive in good time
• Bring
– exam entry voucher
– photographic proof of identity
– pens
– pencils
– rulers
– water
– sweets

During the Exam
• Read through the whole exam paper
• Manage your time
– question 1 (20 marks) = 30 minutes
– questions 2-11 (8 marks each) = 8-9 minutes each
– check the clock!

• Read the question carefully


– Note the verbs ‘list’, ‘outline’ etc.
– Check marks available for each part of the question

• Give examples
• Bullet if running out of time
• Watch your handwriting

Special Exam Arrangements
Reasonable adjustment
• An action that helps to reduce the effect of the disability or
difficulty that causes a substantial disadvantage
• Arranged in advance of the exam
− e.g. dyslexia, physical disability – possible adjustments = extra
time, computer
Special consideration
• Disadvantage through temporary illness, injury,
indisposition, adverse circumstances
− e.g. family bereavement, injured writing arm – will give
consideration to marks
