 Alkaline batteries have magndesium oxide and
someones mercury, which are toxic. (common)

 Recharged batteries of nickel-cadmium-lithium

are toxic because of the cadmium. (cellphones)

 Acid lead batteries (cars).

 THE DAMAGE.
 We used to throw the batteries away, in the trash or in
the open air.

 The batteries are oxidized and then spill the toxic

compounds in the ground, water and air.

 This is harmful
for the human
and environment.
 THE SIZE OF THE PROBLEM.

 In Mexico every year 600 million batteries are

sold.

 From 1960 to 2003, 635,000 tons of batteries

were thrown away, which produced 135,000 tons
of toxic substances.

batteries per year.

 In my opinion we need to care about the
environmental.
 Nowadays alternatives exists and we should try
them.
 Put the batteries in the correct place.
