Hazard Identification

- Hazard Identification is a process controlled by management


- It is a technique ised to examine the workplace for hazards with
potential to cause accidents.
- Worker-oriented process
- Must asses the outcome of the hazard identification process.
- Hazards may not be a true hazard.
- Identification and control of hazards should include periodic site
safety inspection programs, that involve supervisors.
- Safety inspection should ensure that preventive controls are in place
that action is taken to quickly address hazards that technical
resources are used and that safety and health rules enforced.

- Many workplace have high accidents and severity rates


because they are hazardous.
- Hazard are dangerous situations or conditions that can
lead to accidents.
- The higher the hazard that is present, the higher the
chance of accidents
- Most hazards are from the direct release of some form of
energy.

- It can be accomplised using a quistionairre.

serve a number of evaluative purposes.

• Check compliane with the company rules and regulations
• Check compliance with OSHA rules
• Determine the safety and health conditions of the workplace

- First, determine what needs to be audited.


When to Audit
- It is best to audit as often as possible.
- At a minimum th supervisors and employees should.
1. Check the equipment and materials that they will use during the
operation or work shift for damage or defects that could present a
safety hazard.
2. Report identified hazards immediately to their supervisors.
