Checking the goods delivered to customer
• Checking hardware
› Check whether the packing cases are damaged. Ensure that the equipment is not placed
upside down during the transportation and that the place of delivery agrees with the actual
installation place.
› Unpack the packing cases and inspect the goods. Check and accept the articles piece by
piece carefully with reference to the name, type and quantity of the articles stated on the
Packing List.
› Notes: You need to ensure that there is no missing item of the equipment and there is no
damage on the equipment before the installation and deployment. If you find that there is any
item missing or the equipment is damaged, contact Huawei in time to check whether the
installation could be proceeded.
• Check the Document and software installation disks
› Check the Solaris 10 installation disk or Windows recovery disk
› Check the T2000 installation DVD-ROMs
› Check the T2000 Documentation CD
› Notes: Make sure that these document and software installation disks in safe keeping and
handover them to our customer before acceptance.
• Notes: Check the goods along with our customer.

Preparing Tools
• Laptop
› Keep the documents and software;
› Use the Laptop to transfer the T2000 license or software package to
the customer’s computer.
› If need, install a T2000 on Laptop to be familiar with the operation on
T2000 or install a LCT ( T2000-LCT or Web LCT) For equipment
commission. Notes: for RTN and NGWDM，use the Web LCT.
• Ethernet cables
› Connect the Laptop to NMS computer using an Ethernet cable.

Software Preparations for Installing T2000

› Solaris 10 installation disk.
› T2000 for UNIX installation DVD-ROM
» DVD-ROM #1 (System patches DVD-ROM)
» DVD-ROM #2 (Tool software DVD-ROM)
» DVD-ROM #3 (T2000 application DVD-ROM)
» DVD-ROM #4( T2000 Patches DVD-ROM), optional.

Hardware Installation
• Installing Hardware
› Place the host and monitor of the computer on top of the operation desk .
› Properly connect the monitor cable, monitor power cable, host power cable, keyboard,
mouse and network cables.
› If other peripherals, such as tape drive, external CD-ROM and external hard disk,UPS are
required, properly connect them following the corresponding instructions. Place these
peripherals on the operation desk.
› Notes: If you want to install the computer in the dedicated cabinet, follow the attached
instructions of the cabinet.
• Checking the Hardware Installation
› After finishing the computer installation and all equipment cable connections, check
whether the hardware installation and cable connections are correct. Check the power
cables and grounding cables for each component. Make sure that these cables are
connected to the correct poles in a safe and proper manner;
› Check the hardware connection cables and network cables according to the hardware
connection diagram.
› Notes: More detail refer to the remark or Installation Guide
• After checking the hardware installation, you can power on the computer.

Software Installation
• Notes:
› To ease the on-site installation and improve the system usability, some
software used by the T2000 adopts the pre-installation before the delivery.
For deployment, check the running status of the pre-installation software, and
install the other required software.
• For UNIX system:
› The pre-installation of the T2000 Server: includes the Solaris 10 and patches
for Solaris 10, Sybase database,T2000 server and patches for T2000.
› The pre-installation of the T2000 Client : includes the Solaris 10 and patches
for Solaris 10, T2000 client and patches for T2000.
› In this case, the workstation can be put into use at once. This simplifies the
installation procedure a lot.
• For Windows system:
› The pre-installation software only includes the OS( Windows XP SP2 or
Windows 2003 Server SP1 or Windows 2003 Server R2).

Software Installation (Installing the T2000 on UNIX )
• Step1:Power on the workstation and the Solaris is automatically
started.
› Log in to the system as user t2000( the default password is t2000).
› Select Common Desktop Environment (CDE). Then click OK.
• Step2:Check the Version of OS and disk partition
› Run the uname -a command in the terminal windows to Check the version of
the OS whether this version is Solaris 10 and the patch version is 125100-09.
› Run the df -k command to check the disk partition whether it is consistent
with the recommended disk partition scheme in the Installation Guide. More
detail refers to the Chapter Installation Preparations -Preparations for
Installing T2000 on UNIX in Installation Guide
› Notes: If the version of OS is not Solaris 10 or the disk partition is not
consistent with the recommended disk partition scheme in Installation Guide,
reinstall the whose system including the os and T2000 again according the
Installation Guide.

• Step3:Check the installation of Sybase and T2000:
› For T2000 Server:
» The following directories should exist by default: /T2000, /T2000/server,
/T2000/client, /opt/sybase, and /opt/HWICMR
» Run echo $IMAP command in the terminal windows to Check whether
the IMAP is correctly set. If the IMAP is incorrect, run the
IMAP=/T2000/server;export IMAP command to set the IMAP value
again.
» Run echo $SYBASE command in the terminal windows to Check
whether the SYBASE is correctly set.
› For T2000 Client: The following directories should exist by default: /T2000,
/T2000/client and /opt/HWICMR
› If there are no the related directories, reinstall the T2000(including Sybase for
the server ) according the Installation Guide.

• Step 4: Check the running status of T2000 and Sybase
› Check the Running Status of Databases
› Check the Running Status of the T2000
› Start the T2000 Client
› Notes: More details refer the Verifying the Installation chapter in the
Installation Guide.
› If the T2000 is running normally, it means the pre-installation is succeeded.
If not, according to the installation to reinstall again.
• Step 5: Check the version of T2000
› Check the version of T2000 whether is the required version of customer.
› If not, connect the Huawei Engineer of the local office to get the installation
software package or upgraded software package of the new version.
Uninstall the T2000 and install the new version according to the Installation
Guide; or Upgrade to the new version according to the Upgrade Guide.

Software Installation (Installing the T2000 on Windows)
• Step1:Power on the computer, checking Operating System Settings
› Verify that the Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition or
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition, and their corresponding patches are
installed. To be specific, Service Pack 2 should be installed for Windows XP, and
Service Pack 1 should be installed for Windows 2003 Standard Edition.
› Check the disk partition. The first partition (drive C) requires a minimum of 40 GB
space. If the disk partition requirements are not met, you need to re-partition the
system according the recommendation computer disk partition on Windows in
Installation Guide.
› According to the planning and the requirement of customer, modify the computer
name.
› The default browser of the Windows operating system is Internet Explorer 6.0, and no
proxy is set.
› Other applications and anti-virus software are closed.
› The display mode of the computer should be modified as: 1024 x 768 pixels, High
Color, 16 bit enhanced color or more.
› Ensure that a user such as t2000 with the Administrator authority has been created.
Software Installation (Installing the T2000 on Windows)
• Step2: Installing the T2000 on Windows
› Prepare for the T2000 installation DVD or the T2000 installation
software package.
› According to the Installing the T2000 on Windows chapter in Installation
Guide to install the T2000 Server, or according to the Installing an
Independent T2000 Client on Windows chapter in Installation Guide to
install the T2000 Client.
› Verifying the Installation
› More detail refers to the Installation Guide .

Software Installation (Installing the T2000 license)
• Step1: Collection the information

› The T2000 license file is not sent to the customer with the T2000 installation CD-ROM.
› Collection the MAC address of the network card of a T2000 Server computer. For the server
that has multiple network cards, obtain the license for the network card that is used by the
T2000 to communicate with GNE.
» On UNIX, Run the ifconfig -a in the terminal windows with root user.
» On Windows, Run the ipconfig /all in the DOS Command Prompt window .
› Get the contract number in project documents.
› Return the above information the Huawei engineer of the local office to apply a T2000 license.
• Step2:Installing a T2000 License
› After getting the T2000 license from the Huawei engineer of the local office, install the license
to the following path:
» If the T2000 server is installed on UNIX, copy the license to the $IMAP directory (the
default directory is /T2000/server). Notes: on UNIX,FTP the license file to the
/T2000/server directory in the ASCII mode as user t2000.
» If the T2000 server is installed on Windows, copy the license to the %IMAP% directory
(the default directory is C:\T2000\server).
• Step3: Restart the T2000 server and client to make the T2000 license effective.

Software Installation (Installing Newest Generic
Version patches for T2000)
• Step1: Checking and recording the patches version of T2000
› Check the following directory to check the patch installation:
» For server: /T2000/server/patchinfo or C:\T2000\server\patchinfo
» For Client:/T2000/client/patch or C:\T2000\client\patch
• Step2:Confirming the patches version of T2000 with the Huawei engineer of
the local office. if need, get the newest generic version patches for T2000
from the Huawei engineer of the local office
• Step3: if need, install the newest generic version patches for T2000
according the patches installation guide.
› Shutdown T2000 Client and Server
› Install the newest patches for T2000
› Restart T2000 Server and Client again.
• Step4: Verifying whether the patch is installed.
› More details refer to the patch installation guide or the remark.

Commissioning (Configuration the DCN Network)
• Step1: Configuration the DCN Network
› According the DCN network planning or the requirement of customer, to modify
the IP address, configure the gateway/default route of the computers installed
T2000.
› Ensure that the communication between T2000 server and GNES, the
communication between T2000 server and T2000 client, and the
communication between T2000 server and the upper NMS are ok.
› If there are routers or firewalls between the T2000 Server and the T2000 Client,
check all ports used by the T2000 Server and client . Make sure that these
ports can be normally turned up to support the communication between the
server and client.
› Check the remote environment configuration of customer

Commissioning (Construct the T2000 Data)
• Step2: According to the Operation Guide to Construct the T2000 Data
› Create NEs
› Upload the NEs configuration data to form the NE-layer data at the NM side.
› Create fibers and cables.
› Based on the NE-layer data at the NM side and the fiber connection information, search
the protection subnets to form the protection subnet information in the network-layer data
at the NM side.
› Based on the NE-layer data at the NM side, the fiber connection information and the
protection subnet information, search the paths to form the path information in the network-
layer data at the NM side.
› According to the customer’s requirement to create the NM user and assign different
authorities to them.
› Back up the T2000 configuration data:
» Backup of the MO data
» Backup of the T2000 databases
» Backup of the data by using scripts
› Query the alarm and performance, and so on.

Commissioning (Value-added functions Commission )
• Step 3: Value-added functions Commission (Optional)
› If need, Enable and configure the Northbound Interface (CORBA, SNMP,MML)
» If the T2000 is planned to access to the T2100, enable the MML interface.
» If the T2000 is planned to access to the other upper NMS, enable the CORBA or
SNMP interface, which need the T2000 license to support.
» Use the configtool to enable and configure the Northbound Interface.
– On UNIX:/T2000/server/tools/configtool/configtool.sh
– On Windows:\T2000\server\tools\configtool\configtool.bat
– About the configuration of CORBA or SNMP interface, refer to the T2000 CORBA User Guide
or T2000 SNMP User Guide.
› If need, Set Alarm Remote Notification
» The alarm remote notification function enables the T2000 to automatically send the
alarm information to the preset receive terminal.
» Currently, the T2000 can only forward the alarm information to users by way of short
message and EMAIL.
» This function is also need the T2000 license to support.
» More detail refer to the Operation Guide-Alarm Management-Setting Alarm Remote
Notification .

Commissioning (Make the Engineering Documents)
• Step 4: According to requirement of the Engineering Documents and
CEAS system, make the Engineering Documents.
› More detail refer to the Huawei Engineers of the local office.
• Step5: Prepare for the acceptance document
› According to the Acceptance Manual and the actual network of customer and the
requirement of Local office, cut the acceptance item to form the Acceptance
Manual on site.
› Read the Acceptance Guide to be familiar with function of T2000.
› Prepare for the On-site customer Training Document
› Prepare for the Acceptance document or goods list
» Solaris 10 installation DVD,T2000 Installation DVD, T2000 Document CD
» Windows recovery CD, DVD,T2000 Installation DVD, T2000 Document CD
» T2000 License file

Commissioning (Acceptance and Customer Training )
• Step6: According to the confirm acceptance item to acceptance

our T2000 with our customer.
• Step7: Handover the documents, software DVD(or CD) and
T2000 license to customer.
• Step8: According to the actual use of customer, perform the on-
site Training, the emphases of the training are as following:
› The basic operation of T2000,such as start, shutdown, backup and
restore T2000 data.
› The routine maintenances of the NMS system.
› The usage of Product Manual CD and the Online Help
› Etc.

LCT Application
• LCT (Local Craft Terminal):
› LCT is an NE layer management system for the optical transport network. It
can manages the transmission networks of up to 32 NEs to realize integrated
management of multi-service transmission network. In TMN hierarchical
structure, the T2000-LCT is located at EML.
› Usually, LCT is used to commission and configure the equipment on the site.
› LCT has the T2000 NE layer functions, for example, alarm management,
performance management, configuration management, security management,
and system administration.
› LCT can be only installed on the Windows, usually installed in the laptop.
› About the installation and use of LCT, refer to the User Guide:

Function Comparison Between Web LCT and T2000-LCT
• The main difference between the Web LCT and the T2000-LCT is as
follows:
› Manageable Equipment
» The Web LCT added from T2000V2R4C01 manages Huawei NG
WDM ,RTN and PTN series products. The T2000-LCT manages SDH,
MSTP, OSN, Metro WDM and LH WDM series products.
› GUI Style
» The Web LCT uses the browser/server architecture that the user
configures and maintains NEs by using a browser. The Web LCT
implements a web-based graphic user interface. The T2000-LCT
implements a Java-based graphic user interface.
› Data Management
» The Web LCT has no NM database, All operations are directly applies to
NEs. Hence, the Web LCT does not support the ability to preconfigure an
NE, upload and download the NE configuration data, and acknowledge
and synchronize alarms.

T2000-LCT
• The T2000-LCT provides the users with single-layer management network solutions to
the transmission networks of up to 32 NEs to realize integrated management of multi-
service transmission network. Usually it uses the crossover cable or serial port cable to
connect one NE, so as to configure and maintain a single NE.

Web LCT
• Web LCT
› The Web LCT accesses a local NE through a LAN or a serial port, and accesses a remote NE through
data communications channel (DCC). The Web LCT can be integrated with the T2000.
› NE List is the main user interface of the Web LCT. The Web LCT manages NEs in the NE List.
› Web-LCT is used for small-scale MW network for 32 MW NEs.

License fault Check whether the MAC addresses of T2000 server and in the license

compatible.
Check whether the position of the license file is correct.
Whether load the license file to directory “/T2000/server” by FTP

ASCII mode in Solaris platform.

Fail to backup the Check the running status of database

Ensure the authority of directory “dbbackup” is writable for the
current user

› 1) Rerun the setup program ,and select the “upgrade”, then
SQL SERVER can be started normally.
› 2)According to the installation manual, but the prompt as
follows , “Do you want to upgrade to Desktop Edition?” the
option must be “Yes”, when finish all the operation, the SQL
SERVER can be started normally, and the data also is kept.

› When close the T2000 server, keep SQL running, then use
the T2000 Database Management Tool T2000DM to restore
the MO data, the prompt as follows :

› T2000 Server doesn't permit to get a MO backup, when the Eng
ineer try to make the operation the T2000 shows a Message Err
or:
› The server works normally with out problems but can't save a B
ackup.
