CONCEPT

Aceh Tsunami Museum is a historical object, the tsunami museum will

become a center for research and learning about the tsunami disaster. As a
symbol of the strength of the Acehnese people in dealing with the tsunami
disaster and a legacy to future generations in Aceh in the form of a message
that a tsunami had occurred in the area.
The tsunami museum was not only designed as a place of learning as well as
storing the history of the Aceh tsunami.
SPACE
Space
After passing the reception of
desk, we will begin to enter
a long, dark corridor. Along
Fear
this path we seem to see
only the darkness that
comes from the bias of a
wall that is entirely dark.
The wall height varies
between 19 to 23 meters
which represents the height
of the tsunami wave at that
time. From the right wall
flowing water from a height,
our eardrum will catch the
sound of water gurgling
which sometimes feels
creepy.
Like a trip, this long and dark
Space alley finally found its mouth
of into another room. Visitors
will find 26 monitors
Memory arranged in such a way. From
the monitor every second a
photo of the tsunami event
will appear in the form of a
slide. The room called the
Space of Memory will bring
us to the vicious tsunami
waves. In this room the
source of the light came from
the reflection of the pond in
the courtyard of the building.
This room is also inseparable
from the philosophy that
makes us cringe at the
thought. This is the room that
describes the true 'ocean of
tsunamis'.
Space
of
Sorrow

The shape of this room can be said to be a 'chimney' which rises high up to 30
meters high. The only source of light in this room is a chimney top on which
there is a carved Allah engraving in Arabic.
This symbol symbolizes the relationship between humans and the Creator who
is a helper in various situations. The Qur'anic chants we heard in the first room
came from here. The peak of this hall that looks like a tower if we see this
museum from outside the building.
In the circle of this building we can also read 2,000 names of tsunami victims.
The names are only a fraction of the actual number of tsunami victims.
This is the philosophy you want to
portray from this room. The floor is
bumpy, when walking makes the balance
of our body somewhat disturbed. In order
not to fall or slip we can hold on to the
iron that surrounds the wall. Again
Space lighting is sobering that it makes us limp,
tired.
of Confusion became one of the
Confuse unforgettable pieces for tsunami victims.
Who is not confused with the reality of
losing relatives, possessions, and even a
few who experience mental disorders due
to depression. This confusion finally
ended in a hallway.
Space
of
Hope

This is the end of a long journey, the emergence of a new hope as a new source of
life. Space of Hope is a bridge of hope made of wood material and stretches over a
pond. The length of the bridge is 15 meters, above which 55 replicas of countries on
various continents are donated in the reconstruction and rehabilitation stages of Aceh.
We can also see this symbol on a round of boulders around the pond below.
Structure
and
Materials

Material of this building using material from Aceh and use lot of wood and
bamboo. The roof of Tsunami Museum of Aceh using concrete roof and
polycarbonate and the wall is consist of bricks, concrete, and glass wall grc

Structure system at the Aceh Tsunami Museum againts traditional mosques
has no similarities, but againts the Aceh traditional house structure system
has siimilarities seen from the constryction of the buliding’s legs using
columns as supports with the application of supergraphics and the
application of symetrical design principles in the form of placement of
columns modular and then connect to the beam as a load holder from above,
but it’s use different materials.
