Objective
• Hard switching fly back converters are widely used in the low power
application but it suffer from high electromagnetic emissions, current
ripples and low efficiency.
• To overcom these problems, a half-bridge flyback converter with a
new lossless passive snubber is proposed using an interleaved
structure.
• This improves the efficiency of the system.
Introduction
• Isolated switching converters are used widely in the application such
as PV system, Battery charger and LED drives.
• Due to some merits such as simple structure, affordable flyback
converters are used, which reduces the size and it also eliminate the
freewheeling diodes and reset circuitry in the forward converter.
• To reduce the size, the switching frequency is increased this in turn
increases the switching losses and lowers the efficiency.
• To solve this problem, we can use Active and Passive Soft switching
techniques are introduced to provide ZV and ZC switching condition.
• To use the flyback converter in high current application, the
interleaved approach is the best solution.
• It has some benefits including the capability of more power processing
with lower current ripples, lower EMI, fast transient response and
reduced passive components size.
• Hard switching flyback converters suffer from high voltage stress and
spikes due to resonance between the leakage inductance and switch
output capacitor
• To overcome the high spike voltage and voltage stress and to reduce
losses and EMI, a half-bridge flyback converter with lossless passive
snubber and interleaved technique is introduced.
• The ZVS conditions for all the power switches are provided and the
turn-off of the clamp and snubber diodes is under ZCS.
• The stress voltage of the switches is clamped by clamp diodes and
there is no need for the additional magnetic core because the snubber
cell windings are coupled with the main interleaved flyback
transformer.

Conclusion
• Soft switching half-bridge flyback converter using interleaved method
is proposed without any auxiliary switch and magnetic core.
• The switches turn on under ZCS and turn off under ZVS.
• This method gives 7% efficiency improvement than its hard switching
counterparts.
• The main EMI peak is reduced than hard switching counterpart which
is an advantage from EMC viewpoint.
