also others. They will discourse about the project design and present their
finding in their research about the site, the typology of building and many
more.
● This process occurs after the civil and structural engineer have been
appointed by the architect or the client through tender distribution.
Construction stages
● In the constrcution stages, the civil and structure engineer will have to
inspect the construction process of the on-going project. They will have to

manager and contractor to clear it up.
4. Project Flow - Roles
3 types of basic engineers services:

1. Basic Professional Services (for civil and structural engineering works in infrastructure)

1. Basic Professional Services (for structural engineering works in buildings)

1. Basic Professional Services (for engineering systems in buildings)

Project flow:

1. Preliminary Stage
2. Design Stage
3. Tender Stage
4. Construction Stage
1. Preliminary Stage

1) Investigating background of project, data, reports, client and information.

2) Discussion with consultant architect and any local or other approving authorities
in connection with architectural treatment of work.
3) Preparing reports, sufficient structural information and documents enable for
the client and architect about proposal for the construction of the works that
enable the architect to apply for approval in principle from the authorities for
the execution of the works in accordance with the proposals.

2. Design Stage

Stage
● Government Tender
● Private Tender
● International (overseas) Tender

Every tender has its own rules that should be aware. Type of tender :

1. Open Tendering:

Open tenders are offered to consultant such as architect, engineers and contractors. The client

incorporation in the works as are necessary where the inspection and test are within the
technical competence of the consulting engineer and arranging and witnessing the acceptance
tests

selection of contractors or the purchase
of materials are being made for award of
contract.

Engineers need to prepare :

+ Contract documents
+ Drawings
+ Specifications

Public notices are released. Bids are open

to contractors or manufacturers.

Civil and structural engineering department

will make decision on their
recommendation to clients.
