Origins
• Born in Richmond, Indiana in September of 1997
• Close knit family
• 3rd child of 5 Children
• Arguably 3 Hometowns in Indiana
• Connersville, Cambridge City, & Milton
• Grew up in a very rural area
• Always had a garden and grew hay
• Born to Scott and Lisa Ross
• Most of my family also lived in Eastern Indiana
Childhood

• Spent a lot of time outdoors, played a lot with pets


• Played with my sisters and brother
• Cousin Jacob spent a lot of time at our house
• Began attending Head Start at age 4
• Made first friends there
• Very happy and quiet child- got into moderate trouble
• Loved playing with animals, reading, drawing, fishing, and
sports (Football and Basketball)
• My mom was a stay at home mom for most of my childhood
• Dad worked but couldn’t for awhile- spent significant
time below poverty line
Elementary School
• Went to Fayette Central Elementary (home of the
hornets)
• Played flag football starting in 1st grade; tackle in 3rd
• Read a lot of books and loved learning
• Found my favorite subject in history
• Variety of dreams
• Archaeologist, NFL player, cartoonist, etc
• Made new friends, some I still have since 1st grade
• Spent as much time outside as possible
• Involved in 4-H: liked woodworking, wildlife, and
cooking categories
• Both parents went back to work and finances improved
Middle School
• Went to Connersville Middle School
• A lot more students my age there: only middle
school for Fayette County
• Greatly enjoyed Social Studies: loved my teacher Mr. Paige
• Did very well in school, made some new connections at
while there
• Continued to play football up until 8th grade
• Did not make the 7th grade basketball team
• Began spending more time on my own
• I didn’t hang out with friends very often, more
isolated
• Got really into music, a trend that would continue
High School
• Spent a lot of time at my house, felt isolated in country
• Countless hours listening to music on Pandora, Youtube,
etc
• Enjoyed learning about all classes, but my favorite was
history
• Tried to take classes to see if I wanted a career in
field
• Hated calculus and human physiology
• Got into politics a lot, watched political news every night
• Loved my government and econ classes, still talk
to teachers
• Got my license at the start of junior year- more freedom
• Began hanging out with my friends a lot more
• Held a variety of jobs (Mowing, Carpet cleaner,
grocery bagger)
• Oldest sister Audra passed away in a car wreck when I
was a junior
• Missed significant school time, family struggled
• Really wanted to pursue a career in law
• Started growing my hair

College
• Enrolled and started classes in 2016
• First generation college student
• Excited but nervous: ready for new experiences
• Met a lot of people and the ones I would consider my best friends
• Majored in History and Political Science
• Spent significant time on the pre-law track
• Made a lot of friends, tried to get involved
• ASB, RA Council, Best Buddies…
• Selected to be an RA for 2018-2019 school year
• Held a variety of jobs throughout college as well
• Currently an intern for Thrive Nonprofit Solutions
• Decided I do not want to go to law school
• Picked up my education minor
• Met my current girlfriend Megan
• Currently writing an original research paper for history department
• Chopped off all my hair
Passions
• Helping others
• Being outside and enjoying nature
• I taught survival classes and love to fish, hike, and kayak
• Music- I listen to a variety and have been to a lot of concerts
• Being a camp counselor
• Thinking creatively
• Making other people laugh
• Spending time with family and friends
Future Goals

• No longer desire a career as a lawyer


• Law profession is not what I dreamed it would be
• Currently considering a lot of options
• High School History Teacher, Career Counselor, Non-Profit worker, paralegal
• Things I want to do after Butler:
• Get a job
• Join the Peace Corps/ Ameri-Corps/ Teach For America
• Get a Masters degree
• Maybe in Social Work, Business, or Wildlife Conservation
• Teacher certification track
• The future as it stands is a book still being authored, and I’m excited to be at the pen!
