ASHRAY STHAL (ORPHANAGE
VILLAGE)
Introduction
The concept work on providing the environment in which
orphaned children can enjoy living conditions that are as close as
possible to those of normal family life.
Architecture is at it’s highest form of accomplishment when it can
shelter humans in a way that is sensitive to their culture, their
community and their surroundings.
Here the design fosters the integration of the children with an
exceptional environment, and the village feels as if it is owned and
run by them.
This gives them security and happiness, which is in turn
reflected in the large measure of civility, discipline and good
manners.
• In addition to the education given by the state schools, in the village itself the children get a training in
various crafts: wood work, metal work, mechanics, sewing, or arts, such as photography, or in farming
and cattle rearing – which called for the building of the farm.
