Viewports

 Graphics viewport area.

 In default it displays 4 main viewport areas.

 Viewport displaying a different view of the model.

 Viewport layout can be decided by user.


(Customize > viewport configuration)

 Each viewport location can be changed by user (Right click > views)

Main Menu Bar

Lies at the top of the screen.

Many of the 3D studio Max commands grouped together in the


standard windows pull-down menu format.
Main Toolbar

Lies at under pull-down menu

Contains various icons used to select and transform geometry


as well as to set up materials and render.

To use an icon button, move the cursor over the button and
pick it.

Small black triangle in the lower corner means the icon button
containing more icon buttons.

6 nested command panels.

Located at the right of the screen.

Each one is selected by picking on the appropriate tab.

Only one can be display at a time.

Command Panel

 Create = Displays controls for creating objects.

 Modify = Displays controls for modifying object parameters.

 Hierarchy = Displays controls for adjusting object linking and pivot


points.

 Motion = Displays controls used to assign and edit transform


controllers and object motion path.

 Displays = Displays controls used to set display preferences.


Viewport navigation
control

Located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

In default it display 8 buttons.

Used to control the displays inside a viewport.

Control

Located at the bottom of the screen.

Used to create and controls an animation

• Used to control the playing or movement through an animation


Status Bar

Display information on the current state of an active command


as well as a coordinate readout.
