 Yes, material at site need to be managed to
provide good construction planning, build
client trusty towards the consultant, and to
avoid any bad consequences such as
material waste, material damage and
construction delay due to no material
management by the project manager or
contractor.

DEFINITION
 MATERIAL – the substance or things from
which something is or can be made.

 MANAGEMENT – to have resources under


your control ; the process of managing a
business or group of people.

Material management has been
described as the concept of requiring an
organized structure which unifies into one
functional responsibility the systematic
planning and control of all materials from
identification of the need at the design
development stage, to delivery to the
workplace throughout the construction
stage. This unified function embraces
planning, purchasing, production and
inventory control, storage and material
handling.

have to buy new material
 Can buy a little at a time (e.g. : first,the
amount of material for foundation, next for
basement etc)

to store the material.

 Prevent over buy amount/stock of material
 Estimate the amount need to reduce
material damage and have to be waste

 Encouraging the labors to finish the
