Proposed Change:
1. required guards shall be designed so that no member,
attachment or opening will facilitate climbing
• except for
• industrial occupancies
• where location and size of openings
do not present a hazard to pre-school aged children
• less than 1.8 meter drop between surfaces
• inside dwelling units

• does not repeat information provided in the code
• cross-reference rather than duplicate code tables
• provides supplemental information

• will be updated in sync with future code editions
