ë The main objective of this project is to design and
provide a lightweight shoe that are buoyant material
which is adapted to be worn on the foot to permit the
wearer to walk through water.
ë The shoe can be made in different sizes as long as it is
able to accommodate 80 kg of weight when walking on
water. Hence, we are to calculate the buoyant force
which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by
the object, in order to allow the shoe to be float on
water successfully. Student will understand the
principles of buoyancy by conducting this project.

ë For making this buoyant shoe, we are needed to

consider the theory that needed to be used in making
or designing the product.

ë To build an object that can be floating on the water,

the theory such as buoyancy, Archimedes principle and
stability on water are needed to be considered
è

Information regarding material used;

ë mater = 1000 kg/m³
ë Balsa = 200 kg/m³
ë Mass of man, m = 80 kg
ë Gravitational force = 9.81 N

F.B. = Buoyant force = Total weight = water .g .V

Since this project is all about walking on water, the stability of the shoe must be
considered.
To make it stable 4/5 volume of shoe immerse in water.
ë water. g .(4/5) V = shoe .g .V + m.g
ë (1000)(9.81)(4/5 )V = (200)(9.81)V + (80)(9.81)
ë 5986 V = 784.8
ë Total Volume of shoes = 0.131 m³
ë Volume for a single side of shoe = (0.131m³)
= 0.0655 m³
So the suitable dimension to be used is about;
= 1.0m x 0.30m x 0.27m for single side of the shoe

DISCUSSI6N
ë The basic design of our shoes is most likely to a boat but the boat
being cut into half for the right side and left side of the shoes..

ë 6ur buoyant shoes use balsa wood as the main material. The
dimension of this incredible floating shoe is about 1.0m in length,
0.30m in height and 0.27m in width. This dimension is on one part of
the shoes.

ë The balsa wood was chosen to be the main material because it has
very low density compared to the other wood.

ë At the back of the shoes there was like a penguin feet or same as the
diver fin. It will enable the shoes to move forward. The fin will change
the vertical movement to the horizontal movement in the water. If we
lift our feet, then the fin will move downward. However, if we move
our feet downward, the fin move upward. Then the shoes will move
forward according to the concept of the how the divers move forward
during diving.
ADVANTAGES

^ Easy to walk on water

^ Lightweight

^ Up to 2 years warranty

^ Easy to control the balance

è
ë me had achieved successfully the objective and
the goal of the project which is to design
buoyancy shoes that can accommodate 80 kg of
weight and can be use to walk on water.

ë me also had understood the concept of buoyancy

which is upward acting force exerted by a fluid
opposes to an object's weight.
