Standard Seamless Ferritic And Austenitic Alloy-Steel Boiler,Superheater AlloyAnd Heat-Exchanger Tubes. Heat-

Scope

This specification covers seamless ferritic and austenitic steel boiler, superheater and heatheatexchanger tubes. It provides creep-rupture strength than normally creepachievable in similar grades without these different requirements.

Tube Sizes : Inside Diameter = 1/8 in [32 mm] to 5 in [127mm]. Outer Diameter = 0.015 [0.4 mm] to 5.00 in[12.7mm] Inclusive with minimum wall thickness.

The Design Metal Temperature shall not exceed 537 C [ 1000 F ] For A213 T22. The maximum working pressure allowed on steel pipes shall be determined by the following formulae: Where the OD is the basis for calculation, W.P. = 2fe(t - c) / D t + c Where the ID is the basis for calculation, W.P. = 2fe(t - c) / D t + c

a)

b)

Where, t = Minimum thickness W.P. = Maximum working pressure f = Allowable stress D = Outside diameter of pipe d = Inside diameter of pipe e = Efficiency factor = 1.0 for seamless and for electric resistance welded steel pipes C = 0.75 mm

Permitted Variation in Outside Diameter As per A1016/A1016M Table 3 Pg.No. 782.

Permitted Variation in Wall Thickness As per A1016/A1016MA1016/A1016M-08 Table 2 Pg.No. 781.

Permitted Variation in Length As per A1016/A1016MA1016/A1016M-08 Table 4 Pg.No. 782.

General Requirement
Material furnished to this specification shall conform to the applicable requirements of the current edition of specification A1016/A1016M , unless provided herein.

Process
Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be either hot finished or cold finished, as specified. Heat Treatment : Ferritic Alloy And Ferritic Stainless Steel: It shall be Reheated for heat treatment accordance with the requirement of Table 3 (A213/213M Pg.No. 122 and 123 ) Heat treatment should be carried out separately and in addition to heating for Hot Forming.

Autenitic Stainless Steels : It shall be subjected to heat treatment accordance with the requirement of Table 3 (A213/213M Pg.No. 122 and 123 ). Alternative : Immediately after hot forming ,the temp not less than the minimum solution treatment tepmpetrature specified in Table 3,tubes may be Individually quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means ( Direct Quenched ).

Heat Treatment Requirements : UNS Number k21590 Full Or Isothermal annel normalize and temper. Austenitizing Temperature : 1900 1975 F 1040 1080 C Tempering Temperature : 1250 F 675 C

Tensile Requirements : Tensile Strength 415 MPa [ 60 Ksi] (min) Yield Strength Requirements : Yield Strength 205 Mpa [ 30 Ksi ] (min) Elongation in 2 in 30 % (min) Brinell Hardness 163 HB Rockwell 85 HRB

Sampling

Lot Size Should be of same Heat of steel. When final heat treatment is in a batch-type furnace batch, a lot include only those tubes of the same size and from the same size and from the same heat that heat treated in the same furnace charge. For Continuous furnace & by quenching after hot forming number of tubes of same size ,same heat in lot shall be determined from size of tubes.

Flattening Test
One Flattening test shall be made on specimens from each of one finished tube, not the one used for flaring test. Section tube 2 1/2 in [ 60 mm ] For Seamless tube. 4 in [ 100 mm ] For welded tubes. Weld shall place at 90 from direction of applied force.

( Standard Assumptions for flattening test ).

Flaring Test

Section of tube Approx 4 in [ 100 mm ]. With 60 included angle tool.Untill the tube at the mouth of the flare has been expanded to the % specified in Table [pg no 783 in ASTM book] with out cracking or showing imperfections rejectable under the provisions of the product specification. Hydrostatic Test Nondestructive Electric Test.

Surface Condition

Ferritic Alloy Col-Finished steel tubes : Free of Colscale. Ferritic Alloy Hot Finished Steel tubes : free of loose scale and suitable for inspection. Any Special finish requirement shall be subject to agreement between the supplier and the purchaser.

Product Marking

As per Specification A1016/1016M, the marking shall include. Condition Hot Finished or Cold Finished The wall designation ( minimum wall or Avg Wall). Marking shall include the heat number and heat treatment.
