Network

A network is a number of computers connected to each other using communication links in which all devices are working to gather. There are three types of network: 1. LAN 2. MAN 3. WAN

LAN
A LAN is restricted to a limited coverage of few
kilometers. LAN is a simple server - client application connected with wires.

Its data transmission rate(speed) range from 0.2 mbps to 1 gbps per second. LAN cost is much lower then other network.

The most common communication link used in LAN are: Twisted pair Coaxial cable Fiber optics example of LAN: building network, campus network, laboratory network etc.

MAN
Man is a network which covers 50 km area. It interconnected all LANs located in one city to another city Its connect LAN of one city to another city. Communication links used for man are coxial cable and microwave links.

WAN

WAN may operate nationwide or even worldwide. Data transmission rate of wan range from 1200 bits second to slightly over 1 mbps. per

Multiple LANs are connected with each other and become a man. And the connection of MANs from WAN

LIMITATION

The cost of wan is much higher than all networks.

Communication links the cost of wan is become so high

ADVANTAGES OF WAN
This links provide fast speed in data transmission.

According to wan, cost of LAN is so negligible.

Wan provide a service of internet.

While other network are just for server-client.

The most common communication links used in wan are: Telephone lines Microwave links Satelite channels

INTERNAT BASICS
The internet has been described as a networks of networks because there are actually many different network readily accessible through the internet. ADVANTAGES Internet is the largest most complete learning tool in the world. Through internet you can find knowledge resources that allow you to study virtually any subject.

You can communicate quickly and effectively with others.

Internet is easier way to find any information.

INTERNET APPLICATION
There are four type of internet applications: 1.www(world wide web) 2.ftp (file transfer protocol) 3.Telnet 4.News group

WWW
The www consists of pages where you can find out just about anything you want. WWW is global, in which all information is accessible. We can transfer text, images, on the internet. It is a multimedia experience on the internet. The best place to start is to search on goggle, because goggle is a search engine.

FTP
FTP is used to transfer files between computers on the internet.

There are two types of ftp is available. 1. Anonymous 2. Non-anonymous You connect anonymous ftp server then you would use anonymous as your login name and your email address as a password. In non-anonymous you need your private login name and password.

TELNET
TELNET is a program or method that allow you to log into computer on the internet. Many computer on the internet are set up to allow telnet access. some requires login name and passwords, but not have more restriction. There is no graphics session in telnet. There is only text based session.

NEWS GROUP
Electronic bulletin board systems (BBS) are a new means of casual communications for computer users. If you have telephone number, and a modem of BBS you can explore BBS world.
