Company Profile Samsung Group

The Samsung Group is a multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea. Samsung brand including Samsung Electronics, the world's largest technology company by sales. Samsung Heavy Industries, the world's second largest shipbuilders. And many more international affiliated businesses.

History
In 1938,Lee Byung-chull(19101987) of a large landowning family in the Uiryeong county came to the nearby Daegu city and founded Samsung Sanghoe, a small trading company with forty employees located in Su-dong. Samsung diversified into many areas and Lee sought to establish Samsung as an industry leader in a wide range of enterprises, moving into businesses such as insurance, securities, and retail. In the late 1960s, Samsung Group entered into the electronics industry. In 1980, the company acquired Hanguk Jeonja Tongsin in Gumi, and started to build telecommunication devices. The facility were developed into the telephone and fax manufacturing systems and became the centre of Samsung's mobile phone manufacturing. They have produced over 800 million mobile phones to date.

Samsung Electronics
Samsung Electronics is the headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea. With assembly plants and sales networks in 65 countries across the world, Samsung has as many as 200,000 employees. In 2009, the company took the position of the worlds biggest IT maker by surpassing the previous leader Hewlett-Packard.Its sales revenue in the areas of LCD and LED displays and computer chips is number one in the world. Some of the most popular items produced by Samsung include LED-backlit LCD TVs and Galaxy S mobile phones.

Behind Apple, Samsung is the world's second largest by volume producer of smart phones with a leading market share in the North America and Western Europe. Samsung is the second largest mobile phone producer , just behind Nokia. While Samsung Galaxy Tab is giving intense competition to Apples tablet pcs, the competition will get more intense with the launch of slimmest tablet pc by Samsung (Galaxy Tab 750). Samsung Galaxy S II has also been named as the best smartphone by many magazines.

Marketing Strategy (Keys to success)


Innovative products (Marine , Solar Charging, mobile tracker, privacy lock ). Low costs. Products for all segments. SIS and Samsung sale promoters. Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador for its Guru and Metro series. Strong advertisements of GALAXY series. Tie ups with Vodaphone and Aircel.

Key People in my Training in Samsung Mobiles


Joined the training under supervision of Mr. Shishir Pal Singh in District Kangra. Learnt about the distribution channels , and other marketing activities. Kept in touch with the RSO , Mr. Surjit Singh , who helped me to get knowledge about the companys operations in the local area. Studied the sales patterns in the area of distributors , Shiva Enterprises (Gaggal) and Shivam Electronics (Kangra).

Tasks during the Training


Studied the distribution pattern. Samsung -> ND-> RDS -> Dealers -> Customers Compared the features of leading mobile companies operating in the area. Studied the dual sim series phones of Samsung and the competition. Studied the consumer demands and sales patterns. Worked with Samsung Promoters in a shop to get actual knowledge of the customer preferences. Studied the reasons for the increase in sales of Samsung Mobiles.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Simple random sampling was used Sample size of 100 respondents was taken. Research was based on questionnaires separately for customers and dealers respectively

Knowledge Gained
Learnt about the consumer preferences. Understood the importance of incentives and schemes given to dealers for improving the sales. Dealers play equal role to increase the sale of Samsung phones. Understood the impact of advertisements on customers. (Innovation)Change is the name of the game. (Samsung launches at least 3 models every month). Fierce battle with the china manufactured/ imported phones. Nokia loosing the battle (launched only three dual sim phones till now while Samsung has more than 15 already). More prosperous days for Samsung Mobiles to come !!

RECOMMENDATIONS
Service is very much essential for the success of a company , so Service department has to be improved.
