INTRODUCTION: INTRODUCTION:

Regenerative system is provided to improve the

thermal cycle efficiency by increasing feed water
temperature. n regenerative feed water heating part of
steam is bled ( extracted ) after partial expansion in the
turbine and is used to heat u[ the fees- water going to
steam generator( boiler).
n this process the latent heat of liquidification of
bled ( extracted ) steam is also utilized in heating feed
water, which other wise would have been dumped into the
condenser, thereby increasing the cycle efficiency.
n regenerative system of 210MW, KWU units 3 LP
heaters are provided. These LP heaters are installed
after CEP discharge in Condensate cycle. Extraction
steam is taken from LP turbine for heaters 1,2 &3.
Extraction -1 : No Valve
Extraction -2: One spring check valve with Aux.
actuator, One spring check valve
Extraction-3: One spring check valve with Aux.
actuator, One spring check valve
LP heaters should be charged after unit
synchronization i.e. at 12% load.
Charge the LPH -1 by opening inlet valve CD-25 and
outlet valve CD-26 and close the bypass valve CD-
27.
Charge the LPH -2 by opening inlet valve CD-28 and
outlet valve CD-29 and close the bypass valve CD-
30.
Charge the LPH -3 by opening inlet valve CD-31and
outlet valve CD-32 and close the bypass valve CD-
33.
Close the water box vents of LPHs after ensuring air
vents opening
Ensure that LP heaters are properly charged from condensate side
Put the drip valves on auto after the giving the set point as per
requirement
Open the extraction-2 to line drain EX -101 and NRV drain EX-102
valve
Open the extraction-3 to line drain EX -103 and NRV drain EX-104
valve
Charge the LPH-2 from steam side by opening valve EX-10 gradually
Charge the LPH-3 from steam side by opening valve EX-11 gradually
Open the extraction -2 &3 NRVs by putting SLC drains on auto.
Close the heaters shell side vents after ensuring sufficient air escape
Close the extraction- 2&3 line drains and NRV drains
For LP heaters protection are provided to avoid water entering
into the Turbine during high level of LP heaters
Drip levels may increase due the tube leakage or drip level
control valves not working properly.
n case of drip level high, extraction valve will get closed
immediately and heaters will get bypassed from water side on
auto.
LP heaters interIocks:
When LPH level high, DR-17 valve is closed on priority and level
is controlled through DR-20 taking LPH-3 drip to flash box-1.
n case of LPH -3 high level drip is cascaded to FB-1 through
DR-20
When LPH -1 level is high DR-22 valve is closed on priority and
level is controlled through DR- 25 taking LPH-2 drip to Flash
box-1
n case of LPH-2 high level drip is cascaded to FB-1 through DR-
25
W n regenerative system of 210MW, KWU
units 2 HP heaters are provided. These
HP heaters are installed after BFP
discharge. Extraction steam for HPH-5 is
taken from P turbine and for HPH -6 from
CRH line.
Extraction -5: One spring check valve with
Aux. actuator, One spring check valve
Extraction-6: No valve
Charge the HPH -5 by opening inlet valve FD-
7 and outlet valve FD-8 and close the bypass
valve FD-9.
Charge the HPH -6 by opening inlet valve FD-
10 and outlet valve FD-11 and close the
bypass valve FD-12.
Close the water box vents of hPHs after
ensuring sufficient air venting
W Ensure that HP heaters are properly charged from feed water side
W Opening the HPH-5 line drain EX-112 &113
W Open the HPH-6 line drain EX -111
W Open HPHs normal and high level drip valves
W Charge the HPH-5 from steam side by opening extraction valve EX-
13 gradually
W Charge the HPH-6 from steam side by opening extraction valve EX-
14 gradually
W Put the drip valves on auto after the giving the set point as per
requirement
W Close the heaters shell side vents after ensuring sufficient air
escape
W Close the HPH-5 line drain EX-112&113
W Close the HPH-6 line drain EX-111
For HP heaters protection are provided to avoid water entering
into the Turbine during high level of HP heaters
Drip levels may increase due the tube leakage or drip level
control valves not working properly.
n case of drip level high, extraction valve will get closed
immediately and heaters will get bypassed from water side on
auto.
P heater-6 interIocks:
When HPH-5 level is high or pressure is low, DR-2 valve is
closed on priority and level is controlled through DR-6 taking
HPH-6drip to dearator.
n case of HPH -6 high level drip is cascaded to condenser
through DR-9
During low load operation HPH-5 drip will be diverted to
condenser through DR-15
