Introduction
Erecting structural steel work for commercial building construction takes place in a dynamic changing environment where there are many risks and hazards associated with it.Proper and timely planning and coordination are the most effective ways to manage these hazards and risks.
Stages
Project involving structural steel construction have main 4 stages. The stages are as follows : Design Fabrication Transport Erection
The party who is responsible for managing the construction and who has control over it
The person who is responsible for the engineering design and stability aspects of the erection of the steel structure The person responsible for making the steel work
The Employer responsible for engaging the erection crew and erecting the structure
The person who will be looking after the safety aspects during erection.

What We Do ?
Define : Understand and specifying the problem Measure : Identifying the risks involved Analyze : Brainstorming with the Consultants and come up with innovative ideas Improve : Bring Change while implementing new technologies Control : Keep Control while actual erection to avoid unprecedented accidents
To Avoid Risk
Contd..
Prepare be ready Respond In a timely manner Recover when the need arises Mitigate Eradicate the errors/Reduce the errors
Contd..
Solution we adopted : We created a
shop drawing for the square hollow section of the required dimension (Cut the plate and bend it into J section and joining the two J shaped plates into 1 square hollow section with the help of Splice Plates) which we got it approved from the Consultant and Client.
Contd..
Achievement : Saved time Provided value engineering ideas Reduced time cycle
Problem 2
Problems Faced : At terrace level (117m
height) about a total of 250 MT of box columns needed to be lifted and fixed but the problem we faced is the unavailability of crane and due to the height factor hydra cannot be used which is virtually impossible to use.
Solution
Solution We adopted : Usage of
Vertical Gadams and chain pulleys having a capacity to lift 4MT was erected at Terrace and used to lift the 2.5m of Column pieces to complete the total 16m height of each column.
