 The story is about an accomplished magician Ethan Mascarenhas. Ethan is severely injured when his former best friend Yaseer Siddiqui betrays him by ruining one of his dangerous magic trick, causing him to become quadriplegic.Ethan's is then bound to a wheel chair but his wiil power gets stronger everyday. He becomes the Radio Jockey of an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show spreads magic and hope and laughter. Sofia D'Souza (Aishwarya Rai) , is his elegant nurse who has been accompanying him like a shadow for the past twelve years, leaving her domineering husband. Ethan's life centers on Sofia and they share a silent tacit love which is both beautiful and spirited.

 However, on the fourteenth anniversary of his accident, Ethan files an appeal to the court for euthanasia with the help of his lawyer friend Devyani Dutta. This appeal gathers a lot of attention. Finally the day of verdict comes and Ethan's plea is rejected by the court, citing the legal code of the country cannot be violated in any circumstance. Then Sofia decides to help him in the mercy killing.

 The basic essence of any relationship revolves around LOVE, RESPECT, TRUST AND COMMITMENT. In the movie there is no trust between Sofia and her husband plus there is no love and respect from him towards his wife hence there relation doesn t exist in spite of being married. On the other hand there was a relationship between Ethan and Omar because Ethan passed his legacy to Omar in spite of knowing that Omar is son of Yaseer Siddiqui.

 However Ethan s pain was felt by his friend Divyani and hence she helped him to plea the petition for mercy killing. Ethan and Sofia shares another form of relationship which had many phases. From being nurse to a friend and then to a wife, they have showed different levels of trust love care and commitment towards each other on each phase of relationship.

In this movie there is a beautiful example of forgiveness. he forgave his friend who was the reason for him being paralysed and decided to pas his legacy to Omar Siddiqui who was the son of Yaseer Siddiqui
